Made in America: Gift Guide

American Flag Gift

ABC World News had a series recently called Made in America which brought to life just how little of what we buy is American made anymore.  They took a typical family and removed everything from their home that was not made in America – basically the entire contents of their home!  Then they began the near impossible task of replacing everything with American made goods.  An example – it took them like 2 days to find an American made coffee-maker!  A big point to this exercise was that if we buy more American made products we can create more American jobs!

“If each of us spent just $64 on American made goods during our holiday shopping, the result would be 200,000 new jobs.”

Because so little is American made anymore it can be very difficult to find things you want or like that are made here!  That being said, I did find some interesting things right on Amazon that are gift worthy and made right here in the good-old US of A!  I hope you find something here that interests you or at least inspires you to look further and realize buying American is not impossible!

Happy Holiday Shopping, fellow Americans!

  1. Nice list! Tinkertoys and a Green Toys recycled fire truck are under the tree as we speak.

You have good taste! I’d love to see what you would pick if you had to suggest a few handmade in USA items from Etsy. Like you have time…..:)

    • Ha, ha, ha or should I say Ho, ho, ho – good idea maybe I will!

I can’t put things under the tree until the last minute or my kids would go crazy! Thanks!!!

  2. I’m always eyeing those measuring cups whenever I browse the online Moma store! I do buy many contemporary clothing brands which do cost a bit more but the fit is usually better, the fabric is nice and they are often made in the US. More than you’d pay for a T made in China from Walmart but I am generally also much happier with it for a longer time.

Speaking of Ts, the new T club, stylemint is made in the US too.

    • Thanks! Yes, you definitely have to get the gun making kit, I mean Tinker Toys for your son! It’s a classic!
