Happy leap day everyone! How are you celebrating leap day?
I am taking full advantage of the extra day to get to all those things done that I have been putting off for the last four years. Another thing I might do is “take a leap” and step out of my comfort zone a bit. Not sure how yet.
And after school, we we are making these…
Easy After School Leap Day Craft
Here is an easy after school project to help you celebrate leap day with your kids. It’s a leapin’ lizard! Just click on this hyperlink to print out the PDF template (preferably on card-stock): leapin’ lizard
After coloring your lizard cut out the shape and fold down the middle to cut the interior curve.
This lizard really leaps!
Just add a fold at the top of the interior curve (at the set of dotted lines) and fold as shown in this picture.
Then let go!
Have fun leaping until your lizard is all leaped out! Check out the slow motion demo video.

Oh! Those are so cute! I think after school we are making….cookies. That’s leap day celebratory, right?
Thanks! Are they going to LEAP into your mouth? Then YES!
Nice.
Oooh. Don’t tell my kids that we did nothing to celebrate Leap Day but what a good idea!
Thanks! No big deal… you can just celebrate it next time – 4 YEARS from now ; )
We celebrated leap day by doing eight thousand hours of math that Fen couldn’t understand and that made her parents very crabby indeed. YAY! I may have to make 100 of these lizards tomorrow to recover.
Oh boy, they are always changing the way they teach math which makes it hard for parents to help…
So much fun!
I will be doing my catching up tomorrow, thanks to the snow day.
Thanks! We are just getting the rain.
SO CLEVER AND FUN.
Thanks Ann!!!
