Back in March I posted about House Finches and how they were building a nest over our garage…
Well today we have news! The House Finches are expecting! I though maybe they had abandoned the nest due to my meddling camera or maybe fertility issues but no, just planning ahead!
I think there is just two. Although there might be a third, I just can’t get in there to see. Doesn’t it look nice and cozy? What a great spot for a nest; well protected by the eagle. Don’t mess with him! Although he don’t seem to mind getting pooped on.
We will keep you posted on any further developments!
Check out Finch Follow-up. These birds got big fast!

Love the eagle as guardian. Those birds look out for each other…

Isn’t that funny?!
Oh my. Exciting. Can’t wait to see them hatch. Are you hanging out of your window to get the shot? Be careful please!

No! I live in a 1 story and it is right above the garage. I did stand on a step stool to get the pic. I also had to move the lamp a little to even see them.
Blue eggs! So gorgeous! Can’t wait to see the little ones..

Speckled too!
Me too! I wonder if the mama will let me get close at all to see them.
Love the blue eggs. I have never heard of “House Finches.”
Around here they are so common you don’t even notice them! Thanks for stopping by!
So sweet and exciting for everyone! Post picks of hatch-lings when you have them!

I know! and I totally will!!!
I think it’s so cute how you announced the news! Will they use a stork sign to announce the genders when the babies hatch?

Thanks! They are really good parents. Those eggs are their top priority. She dutifully sits on them and he stands watch in a near by tree. I am very sure they will be extremely proud!
I love your bird photos. They always inspire me to take more photos in my own yard. I love birds! The nest resting and being guarded by the eagle is just icing on the cake! =)

IN THE KEEPING OF AN EAGLE’S WINGS. WOW HOW COOL IS THAT! AND I’M SURE THE PARENTS WOULD LOVE THAT “EGG-CITING”ANNOUNCEMENT. I KNOW I DID.
THANK GOD YOU DIDN’T FALL OFF THAT LADDER.
LOOKING FORWARD TO THE BABIES, BUT PLEASE BE CAREFUL. THE BIRDS WE LOVE CAN BE FEROCIOUS WHEN PROTECTING THE NEST.

It’s just a step ladder! Not dangerous! I know, they probably wonder let me get close to take pictures of babies.
My mother-in-law has an eagle just like that one over her garage, and a few years ago a family of blue jays moved in, and built a nest in the eagle. They had several little blue jay babies and it was awesome when they hatched and we could hear their peeping. Please keep us posted!

Blue jays! that must have been neat – the little babies. I would love to get a Blue jay picture but they don’t seem to like the camera.
