The Way to a Man’s Heart

Is of course through his stomach.

Here is an easy supper from my husband’s mother.  As the story goes, she found this recipe in the newspaper and the only change I made was to add onion.  To me, you can’t have peppers without onions!  It is good comfort food that everyone seems to like!

Recipe for Sausage Kaluski

  • 16 oz of pork sausage (no casing)
  • 2 peppers (red and green), chopped
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 16 oz bag of egg noodles
  • can of diced tomatoes
  • grated Parmesan cheese

  1. cook egg noodles according to package instructions
  2. brown sausage in skillet on medium high heat; break up into bite size pieces while cooking
  3. saute peppers and onions on medium heat until soft and slightly brown
  4. drain noodles, return them to the pot and add the sausage, peppers and onions, and a can of diced tomatoes; combine
  5. serve and top with grated cheese; enjoy!

*Up the health factor by substituting chicken sausage and whole wheat pasta.

  1. Yum yum yum .. I’m thinking of ways to make this vegetarian and totally going to try. I’m hungry. I should go have lunch now .. this is making my mouth water.

  2. That sounds awesome, Ann. I’ve been trying to get back to more basic stuff like this these days. Cooking can get really complicated when you’re trying to document it (blogging can be so strange!). I am really appreciating recipes like this lately! xo

    • I really do like more complex food! My family is picky though and confession, I don’t have much patience in the kitchen!
