Handmade Holiday

Christmas Tree Bookmarks

Last week I went for my walk with Christmas on the brain and instead of seeing lots of dull brown leaves on the ground I saw a wide variety of Christmas tree silhouettes.  I grabbed a few of the best ones to bring homes and use for a printmaking project.  I put them between some books and went about my business.  Part of my business was was hosting the Felix Doolittle Bookmark Set Giveaway which made me think about how handmade bookmarks make such a nice gift and bam!  Christmas Tree Bookmarks were conceived!

They are pretty easy to make.  Just cut some heavy paper into bookmark shapes.  Then paint green tempera paint onto a leaf.  Place the leaf upside down on the bookmark, top with scrap paper, and apply pressure (I used a roller).  They you can add decorations.  I used colored paper to make bulbs and garland.  That’s it!

If you bought a book for someone, make one of these to add a handmade touch!

Have a great bookmark craft?  Tell us about it or add a link in a comment!

    • What a nice idea!

I also love the handmade gifts they bring home from school! My kids have the hardest time waiting until Christmas to have us open them!
