Red Grass

I wonder if there is any actual grass in our yard. Ever couple weeks my lawn becomes a different type of weed. It is even more obvious by comparison now that I have a patch of actual grass in the back corner that I planted last fall.  If I think about it I want to do something about it so I try not to think about it.  Plus it’s not the worst lawn in the neighborhood.

I do happen to enjoy seeing the variety of lawns in my neighborhood and their varying shades of green.  You have the lush perfect ones, the lost causes or fields of wildflowers, and the inbetweeners.  Yesterday I saw a lawn that defied categories.  It was beautiful.  It was even and consistent and RED.

Then I started thinking.  Wouldn’t it be fun if lawns came in different colors.  I am sure it is possible with the sheer variety of plants in the world.  You could pick your favorite color, coordinated with your house, or create patterns.  Once you start thinking about it those perfect lush lawns suddenly seem so boring.  Although they do feel good on bare feet!

It reminds me of the rows of colorful homes in Ireland.

What color would you choose?  Please share!

  1. I actually love the lush green.. I’d choose the dark dark green that looks like the fake grass in easter baskets.. they feel so good on bare feet! And then rows of blue bonnets.. ! Oh this could get so much fun! :)

    • It must be some kind of weed on this lawn. Adout half way up the blades it turned from green too red. Very pretty.
