Butterfly Bush

I Spy a Butterfly (Bush)

I saw a flutter of wind pass through a bush that made the leaves look like butterflies.  It reminded me of pictures of trees full of Monarchs during migration.  Did you know that Monarchs migrate like birds but do not live long enough to make it round trip?

I would love to see this playing at the Museum of Natural History in New York…

I haven’t seen any Monarchs around here yet.  I have see lots of the little white butterflies.  I think they are called Cabbage Whites.  I have a picture of one here.  Have you been seeing butterflies?  Please share!

  1. No butterflies here, just nasty old moths. Yuck, I hate those things.

Butterflies are beautiful. I love that YouTube video you hooked up. Beautiful!
Do you have any butterfly attracting flowers in your garden. I am wishing I did. Maybe I will buy a few.

Those white butterflies….they are not moths? We have those white things – but I thought they were moths. I wonder what the definition of a butterfly is. Do you know?

    • Butterflies have bulbs at the end of their antenna plus most moths are nocturnal. I am not a big fan of moths either! My yard doesn’t attract many butterflies but my parents have milkweeds in their yard so we usually see some Monarchs over there during the summer. I would love to see something more more exotic. Last year I very briefly saw a purple one but not long enough to get a picture and identify it.

    • We just see a few too. I would like to see a migrating group but I have to admit it might freak me out too!

    • I keep finding things I want to do in NYC. I think we might just need to get a place there : )
