Circus Ants

Guys, I am writing this with sweaty palms and a pit in my stomach.

circus ants

Have you seen video of Nik Wallenda crossing the Grand Canyon on a tight rope?  I also had this feeling when I read The Man Who Walked Between the Towers.

Attempting a stunt like that is one of my worst nightmares.  I am pretty sure I am not alone but for these circus ants, ain’t no big deal.

I spy highwire ants!  They cross Grand Canyon size expanses as part of a typical day.  They seem to defy gravity.  Actually ants are such great climbers thanks to their six legs each with a hooked claw at the end.

  1. Wow! I can’t believe he walked across the Grand Canyon!!! And I didn’t know ants have hooked claws at the ends of their legs.

(I have sweaty palms and a pit in my stomach now, too!)

  2. Why do people do that? I just don’t get the fascination with death defying acts.

I could not even watch it. I know what you mean when you watch and your stomach literally churns with anxiety.

    LOL.

I had an ant farm once. They are so amazing how they work and work and work. It didn’t last long. My Mom said it was because they came from California and weren’t used to the cold – but I think she was being nice. I never knew these facts with the six legs and hooked feet. That’s awesome!

I also didn’t know they could travel such vast distances.

    Awesome share!

    • You know I am not sure exactly how far they can travel but for their size, the heights and distances they travel are likely comparable.
I don’t know why people do stuff like that. He has even had family members die doing it.
I think someone eptied an ant farm in my house : /
