I saw a bunch of Mourning Doves on a gray roof while driving past New Bedford yesterday. It was really crowded on that gray roof which was between a perfectly good red roof and a just fine green one. I guess those doves like blending in!
The red roof could be prime perching real estate for some cardinals! They don’t hang out in big groups like the doves though.
Speaking of blending in, we just read a beautiful nonfiction picture book last night called I See Animals Hiding by Jim Arnosky about animals and their camouflaging abilities.
