I Spy Mourning Doves
Yesterday I saw a trio of doves after dropping my kids off at school and this morning I saw them again in the same spot. Do they meet up there every morning? Are they old friends? Do they watch the cars? Do they they talk about the weather and linger over coffee?
Actually they might be digesting their breakfast. I learned from All About Birds that Mourning Doves eat lots of seeds quickly, store them in their crop (enlarged esophogus), and fly to a safe perch to digest.
It is always a good idea to digest in a safe place I think. It probably cuts down on indigestion!
