I Spy a Swan Crossing the Highway

On our way to the Museum of Science in Boston yesterday we saw a swan making its way across Route 3. Almost equally strange was how the cars stopped. The swan must have also thought the stopped cars were strange because he stopped to look too. Count us in with the curious cars but it didn’t take long for other cars with things to do and places to be to start honking. I wish I could say the swan honked back but he simply continued on his way.

By the way, we had an enjoyable day at the museum even though my son kept asking if we were going to the gift shop next. Both he and his sister especially loved the lighting show! We did eventually get to the gift sop where my son got a Venus Fly Trap which he has since been carrying around the house like a pet. • Venus fly traps are pretty neato. We did some YouTube research on caring for it last night. I am determined to keep this plant alive.
Can you have a swan as a pet? Maybe if we lived on a farm with a pond. It would probably be pretty disappointed with our bathtub.

  1. I love your illustration and we had great fun with a Venus Fly Trap a few years ago that we bought, of all places, a drug store. Walgreens, I think.

It survived the winter but it died after it ate a fly. I’m not sure if we did something wrong or if it was the natural course of the plant. It was really fun to have a Venus Fly Trap. If I see one again, I would definitely buy it for the kids!

    • My son is having a lot of fun with it! Not sure if this is bad for the plant but we noticed the traps will close if you touch them inside, very cool to watch. I need to take a little video.
