DIY Toy Sled

Upcycle Toy Sed

Do your toys get lonely when you play outside in the snow? Maybe they wish they could go sledding too. They don’t have a sled, you say? Why not make them one out of recycleables! I used the lid from the Nesquik Chocolate Power container to make our guys a bright and cheery yellow sled. It was very easy to make. I punched three holes in each side of the rim with an awl; two sets of holes for seat belts (you don’t want those little guys flying out and getting hurt) and one set for the handle. Then I cut a couple rubber bands at angles to create a pointy end for feeding them through the holes. Mine were tight fits but you might have to add knots to hold them in place. The last step to improve the sled’s gliding ability was to add two drinking straws with a couple dabs of hot glue.

And voila, your sled is ready to slide!

The pirate girl and clown on stilts are mystery Playmobil Figures my kids got in their stockings. I brought them outside with their accessories for my photo but you might want to leave little pieces inside. You don’t want to lose them in the snow and have to wait until spring to get them back!
