Fun with Magnetic Building Sets

VERY IMPORTANT! Make sure you do not have a recalled Magnetix set! To be sure contact Mega Brands at (800) 779-7122. The small magnets could fall out of the original design. If a child swallows more than one of these very powerful magnets they could attract and rip through tissue to get to each other requiring abdominal surgery. Even with the redesigned sets make sure you follow the age guidelines on the package and make sure your children never puts magnets of any kind in their mouth! Learn more about the recall here.

Welcome my guest Youtubers! They want to show you some fun things they made with Magnetix…

They created toys! Magnets are a unique attachment method for building sets. They allow for motions and rotations adding more functionality to the objects you create.

Magnetic Building Sets

  1. My kids have a combination of two Magnetix sets. They have a 35 piece set that came in a tin that can be used as a building base and a set that included translucent squares and triangles. I couldn’t find the sets they have to link to but this set has all the pieces they have plus some they don’t. It does not come with the tin packaging.
  2. SmartMax seems like a very similar building system to Magnetix but the parts are larger and have younger age guidelines. This set includes two bars with LED lights which I think adds some fun possibilities!
  3. You can build beautiful translucent buildings, vehicles, etc. with Magna-Tiles. These seem really popular right now! We may be adding this set to our holiday list.
  4. Create mosaic art with magnets. I think my son would have fun creating Minecraft scenes with this set. What would my daughter create? I wonder. And don’t forget to snap photos of each of your designs!

    • The Magna-Tiles look really fun!

I am glad I know about the danger now. I inspected all our pieces and talked to both kids about the danger. Not putting small things in your mouth is still something I have to remind my 6 year old about.
