Halloween with Pattern Blocks

Halloween with Pattern Blocks

Ever since I posted this we have had the pattern blocks out and since it is October I thought it would be a fun challenge to see if we could make some Halloween themed representational art. You have seen square pumpkins haven’t you?! It was interesting to discover how color can sometimes be more important than actual shape when representing objects.

If you would like to try building the things in the picture above here is a printable reference sheet (without the black background, you’re welcome): Pattern Blocks Printable for Halloween

And to increase the spooky factor for your Halloween Pattern Blocks play I suggest you build on a sheet of black construction paper and add small details with sharpie markers (on plastic blocks) to make things more realistic (you can remove the sharpie marks with vaseline and a nail brush after you are done). If you do create some spooky scenes we would love to see them! Share them on the Doodles and Jots Facebook page or tag them on Instagram with #patternblockparty

Happy Pattern Block Building!
