Thanksgiving Place Card Craft
With the leftover leaves from our Lois Elhert Inspired Turkeys we made these! The Lois Ehlert turkeys were showing off, all puffed out. Normally when we see turkeys in our neighborhood they look like and this shape is very easy to create with just a couple leaves. We used burning bush leaves, big ones for the bodies and smaller ones for the wings. The burning bush leaves are perfect because they are smaller and since they are an invasive they are everywhere! Also they are still hanging on where as most of the other leaves are on the ground and crunchy by now. We just clipped the stem off, glued the leaf onto a folded index card, and added a head, feathers, and legs with a metallic sharpie.
If you are going to make these ahead of time place them under a heavy book so they don’t peal up as they dry out.
I love having kids make place cards for Thanksgiving dinner. Having assigned seating adds more “special” to the meal, gives the kids a fun way to contribute, and becomes a conversation piece at dinner. If you are looking for more place card ideas I also have this print and color turkey and this pop-up cornucopia.
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
