Learning by doing is the most effective and FUN way to learn, don’t you think?! I want my kids to enjoy learning and become lifelong learners. Our world is constantly changing. I want them to see change as an opportunity to learn and grow.
Hands-on learning builds knowledge and skills through practice and real experiences that engage our senses. When you have never done something before you are bound to make mistakes. I recently read an article by Salman Khan (founder of Khan Academy) on praising kids for their effort and how we learn so much more from failure than from easily achieved successes.
Kids are born hands-on learners. They observe us, mimic, explore, make discoveries, and ask questions. I think it is just a matter of keeping it going with encouragement and opportunities as their world expands.
