Where do you want to go today? Books can take you any place on earth or the universe for that matter. They can take you back in time, to the future, and to imaginary realms. Reading is also a convenient way to learn about many things.
I started taking my kids to our library’s story hour once I stopped working full time. It was fun. It was a reason to get out of the house, socialize, and it supported my goal of instilling a love of reading in my kids.
There were songs, books, and a craft all around a seasonal theme. I have always loved art and making things but I really fell in love with the idea of pairing a craft with a book or selection of books. It is an opportunity to celebrate what we read, it helps reinforce ideas and themes, and it ignites our own creativity. It makes us active participants, helps us reflect, and when we are done have an object of self expression to be proud of!
