Jots about the bird…
This is the point in the summer when the grass stops growing and the weeds go crazy. This is a over simplification of what my backyard looked like last night.
Oh yes, very nice, maybe I will pull some weeds, I thought. I went to pull the first one and this is what happened…
A Song Sparrow preening this morning (in slow motion)…
Preening is a very common bird behavior. They do it for a variety of reasons including to remove parasites and align feathers for optimum flight. I feel itchy just watching! Depending on the bird they may do it after a water or dust bath and may also be spreading an oil or power which waterproofs their feathers. I think it is impressive just in terms of balance!
What do you do to get ready in the morning?
I found another Mother Rabbit newsletter this morning in my yard! I don’t know who she is relying on for delivery! Remember the first? We enjoyed reading it and have noticed many of the same things!
What kinds of changes have you noticed in your yard lately? Please share!
