Having it All

My blogging friend, Mia, recently asked me how I manage work, be a mom, and blog.  As if she doesn’t know!  She had 3 kids with busy schedules and 3 awesome blogs (Pragmatic Mom, I Love Newton, and Jade Luck Club).  She posts to Pragmatic Mom at least once a day and her other blogs are very current too.  Not only that but since her posts are educational they are always well researched which requires time too!

All mom bloggers manage to blog on top of an already full life.  I get a lot of satisfaction and community out of it.  Being home all the time as a mom can be isolating and blogging can really help fill that void.   Continue reading

Happy New Year

Happy New Year Everyone!  The new year is a great time to reflect back and set goals for moving forward.

You know what I do not miss about working full-time at a company?  Performance Reviews!  And I worked for an amazing and incredibly fair company!  It is just that I don’t like any mention of areas for improvement.  I suppose you could say that this avoidance is an area for improvement of mine but who cares because I make the rules here!  Here we focus on success, how to build on it and how to migrate it towards my latest whim.  So here we go…   Continue reading

Blogging Tools

I am participating again in a fun link up at Artchoo, my favorite art and design for kids blog!  She co-hosts with a bunch of other awesome blogs so head on over and check them out too!  The theme for this link up is 6 tools, resources, or supplies you can’t live without.  My list of things I can’t live without is much longer than that!  In fact I tried to just narrow to 6 tools for blogging but even that list is much longer than 6.

So how about 6 tools I can’t live without for blogging that I feel like sharing today (in no particular order)!

I like going outside.  It calms me, I like to make discoveries, and it gives me blogging ideas.  Reminds me of the Wizard of Oz when Dorothy open the door and everything is in color!   Continue reading

Learn About SEO From a Wiz and Fellow Mom Blogger

Today I am going to tell you about an online course I took with Vanita Cyril who is an SEO wiz…

It is called the Google Luv Course.

Would you like to reach a wider audience than you have been able to drum up through social media?  Does it frustrate you to know people are searching for what you write passionately about and they never find your blog because it is buried in the Google search results several pages down?  Would you love your link to land on page one?  Is search engine optimization a mystery to you?

Why not do something about it?!

This SEO stuff I find a bit tricky.  Vanita will walk you through it one step at a time.  I found the course material to be clear and easy to implemented.  Want more personalized support?  With the premium option you receive 4 weeks of individualized email assistance from Vanita and trust me, with this service, she is THERE FOR YOU!

With all that is on my plate I really appreciated being able to view the video lessons anytime. Many times I would start one and have to come back to it later.  And the assignments can also be done when you can squeeze them in.  I found this to be so important because a a working mom, blogging is not my first or even second priority.

How did she know to make this course so flexible?  Because she is a busy mom blogger too!  I love learning from her because she is so relatable!

This is truly fascinating stuff!

Vanita will teach you to THINK like Google!

Click on the Google Luv button to learn more about the course and membership pricing options.  And don’t forget, to receive $15 of enter the following promo code: doodles

Make your blog easier to navigate

If you post every day for a year that is 365 posts.  Times 2 years, 3…  That is a lot of content!  I bet a lot of those posts could be interesting, useful, and or entertaining to your readers today.  Wouldn’t you like to have all that content easy to find and perhaps keep new readers around a little longer?  Maybe create some new followers!

The two basic approaches to navigate I use are Continue reading

Why big blogs are good for us little blogs

Here is my opinion and a confession. I hope I don’t hurt anyone’s feeling with this… Before I started my blog, I avoided blogs! If Google sent me to a blog when I was let’s say, looking up a recipe, I would immediately hit the back button and select a “more established” more reputable site.  Honestly, I wouldn’t even give it a chance.  And this is coming from a person who has a very close sister who has been a successful blogger for years! It is not that I didn’t respect what she was doing.  I was, in fact, impressed with what she had accomplished and built. Continue reading
