Family Photo Fun & Unusual Trees

We ALL got new cameras.  The kids were happy with their hand-me-down upgrades!  So we thought it would be fun to go for a walk yesterday after school and take some pictures.  

It ended up being a short excursion for various reasons but it was interesting to see what caught our individual eyes.  My daughter was inspired by the bushes in the neighborhood and I guess not surprisingly my son, cars.  Me, I was fascinated by these trees…   Continue reading

I have always liked them but now love them passionately since becoming a work-at-home mom.  It used to be a weekend thing but now it’s a 24 hour / 7 days a week thing.  Often with the only exception being that 1 hour when I get all dolled up (put on jeans) to pick up my kindergartener under the guise of having gotten dressed that day.  Continue reading

Ho, ho, ho, snow-flake

My kids really like potty humor.  I’m not really opposed to it but the problem is they tend to use it when it makes ME look bad like at school or at the park where they take pleasure in corrupting other, more innocent children.  My parenting philosophy is to say no as little as possible.  I don’t want to be a nag.  Of course I say no when it comes to safety or when I am so tired and I can’t think of anything else to do.  But as a general rule I take the redirect-approach.  Instead of don’t say that, say this instead.  Makes sense right?  Of course it doesn’t always work but more-than-sometimes it does!
