The Cuddliest Boy in the World

Next week the cuddliest boy in the world will turn 5 years old.  He is truly the cuddliest boy.  He insists on at least a hundred hugs from me a day.  And they are the full-body wrap-around monkey-style hugs.  Sometimes he will say “care for a hug”, sometimes he will say in the middle of the day “let’s go cuddle in bed together (sometimes and read books sometimes not)”, but usually he just climbs all over me.  In fact, guess where he is right now, my lap of course.  Oh and occasionally he wants me to pick him up and do the “lovey dance”.  Yup, the cuddliest boy!   Continue reading

Pregnancy Test Trees and a Pickle Baby

Pregnancy Test Tree

I have been meaning to write my child-birth stories.

It is on my long list of blog topics.  I really love hearing birth stories and enjoy telling mine.  And when I saw this: “Journey to Motherhood with Ricki Lake”, I thought now’s as good a time as any!  My first child-birth story:

Pregnancy Test Trees and a Pickle Baby is posted today on Blogher if you want to go check it out!

Valen(story)tine

Better than a Good Idea

Mother Daughter Craft Time

My daughter ORDERED me away from the computer yesterday after school while my son was napping.  It was a perfect stolen moment for a little mother-daughter time.  She had a craft for us to work on: stuffed construction paper animals.   I know it don’t sound like it would work but I have seen her make small pillows this way before and it does, sort of.  Anyways, the point is that’s not the point, right?! Happy New Year Everyone!!!

This morning I took down last year’s calendar and putting up the new one.  I flipped to January and as I was looking at all those empty boxes so full of possibilities it reminded me how I love new things!  New things are full of potential, optimism, and perfection.  Many things are also nice when worn but that is a topic for an other day.
