Ode to the Gourd

"Fall Friends" construction paper and colored pencil

A gourd with her pumpkin companion takes rest

Autumn’s display to symbol harvest

Unlike the pumpkin whose destined for pie

Once dry,

Her hard hollow shell and her curves shall endure

To make music, a bird home, or vessel for water
